Obama: Proven Coward and Liar (Throws Muslims Under the Bus)

“That’s not a man–take it away.”
Sean Bean as Richard Sharpe, with regard to Sergeant Obadiah Hakeswill

Someone who runs or hides from an obligation instead of standing behind his principles is a coward. Someone who says one thing and then does the opposite is a liar. Barack Obama’s recent treatment of Muslim-American voters, in conjunction with his own broken promise from The Audacity of Hope, proves him a coward and a liar.

We previously questioned the veracity of the following alleged quote from The Audacity of Hope, and we even went to the trouble and expense of buying the book to see for ourselves: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” Here is the truth:

Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

“The Audacity of Hope,” page 261 (paperback version)

We agree with this. The United States’ behavior toward citizens of Japanese ethnicity was shameful, and we should have learned not to repeat it in the aftermath of 9/11. While most terrorists identify themselves as Muslims, very few people who identify themselves as Muslims are terrorists. (Similarily, all white supremacists identify themselves as Caucasians but very few Caucasians are white supremacists.) We use “Islamic supremacist” to distinguish the bad guys from the good guys. In any event, this is what Obama said: he will stand with Muslim-Americans should the political winds shift in an ugly direction. Now let’s see what he really did when he felt, or more likely imagined, a mere political breeze in an ugly direction.

SMEAR: Barack Obama is a Muslim

LIE: Barack Obama is a Muslim

LIE: Barack Obama attended a radical madrassa

LIE: Senator Obama was sworn into the US Senate using the Koran

Obama and Muslim \"smear\"

Pay very close attention to what is being said. The problem is not that Obama denies being a Muslim, but that he says it is a “smear” to be called one. “SMEAR: Obama is a Muslim” says quite openly that there is something wrong with being a Muslim, and it gets even worse. Not only does Obama suggest that there is something wrong with Muslims, he doesn’t want to be seen with Muslims.

Muslim Barack Obama fans told to hide from television cameras

The two women in headscarves were asked not to sit in view of cameras at a rally in Detroit on Monday, where Al Gore endorsed Mr Obama.

…Miss Aref’s friend Ali Koussan, a law student, said that a volunteer “explained to me that because of the political climate and what’s going on in the world … it’s not good for her to be seen on TV or associated with Obama.”

A second woman was told to take off her headscarf if she wanted to sit in the special seats.

To recap, this is what Barack Obama said:

they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

To recap, this is what Barack Obama did:

…Miss Aref’s friend Ali Koussan, a law student, said that a volunteer “explained to me that because of the political climate and what’s going on in the world … it’s not good for her to be seen on TV or associated with Obama.”

Barack Obama promised, in writing, to stand with Muslim-Americans should the political winds shift in an ugly direction. He acted by saying that it is a “smear” to be called a Muslim, while his campaign told his Muslim-American supporters to stay away from cameras so they wouldn’t be seen with Obama. Barack Obama is therefore a proven liar (because he broke his promise) and a coward (because he threw a religious minority under the bus under the assumption that this would gain votes) who would make any genuine civil rights activist want to vomit. Sean Bean’s Richard Sharpe has the ideal words for this: “That’s not a man; take it away.”

Addendum: While Obama does not want to be seen with Muslim-Americans, he has no problem with photo-ops with racists and anti-Semites.

We encourage our readers to circulate this material in its entirety (please copy and don’t link images, though, because they use this site’s bandwidth). We place it in the public domain while requesting that only the origin (Winged Hussar 1683) be given. If Barack Obama wants to know the true identity of the person who is calling him a coward and a liar, we will be more than happy to give it. We will, in fact, call his campaign to tell him this because we don’t need to say behind someone’s back what we won’t say to his face.
