From Barack Obama’s official Web site, under his editorial control
It makes my head hurt every time I talk to another African-American that is waiting for Hilary to win and it just drives me crazy. Most (not all) African-American’s are waiting for Hilary to win as the first female president before we have Obama as the first African-American president. Why do we always have to wait for someone else (other than African-America’s) to break the glass ceiling first? I also ask, why we wait for others to validate our leaders as well? I am so mad when the news reports that since Obama won Iowa and if he takes NH, then African-Americans will jump on board. Why I ask you?
I ask each of you to challenge those African-Americans that take this Uncle Tom position. I can respect someone if they think Hilary is a better candidate for certain reasons or issues, but I do not respect those African-Americans that wait for someone else to validate our leaders, wait for someone else to break the glass ceiling and get hung up on if Obama is black enough, experienced enough or old enough. We need to call these folks by their real name…Uncle Tom’s. It may make folks mad but who cares since we finally have someone that is smart enough, experienced enough, old enough and yes…black enough but balanced to take on issues for ALL (Black, White, Orange, Purple, etc.) American’s regardless of color.
I must say that those African-Americans that tell me another weak reason as noted above other than a valid choice will get the name of Uncle Tom from this day forward from me.
One proud, young, strong, experienced and fair African-American male!
We know what we would call a white person who voted against Obama just because of Obama’s skin color, and we think the R word also applies to someone who says one should vote for Obama because of his skin color.
